We understand that saving money is not always easy. Even when your goal is an important one such as saving for emergencies.

At work, you have the ability to set up an effective automatic saving process through your paycheck using split deposit.

Here’s how it works:

  • Contact payroll/human resources about using split deposit. Bring the routing and account numbers for the savings account you want to have money directed to from each paycheck.  The deposit into your savings account will then happen each time you get paid.

OR

  • You can also set up this same process through your financial institution where your paycheck is deposited. Using your instructions, your bank or credit union will automatically deposit a portion of each paycheck into your savings account.

Before you set up your split deposit, use Split to Save from Wisconsin Saves to help establish a monthly saving goal and make a plan to reach that goal. After you set that goal you will then receive ongoing support and encouragement from America Saves to help you achieve your goal.

Over time these automatic deposits add up.  Even saving $5 or $10 per paycheck can help you establish an emergency savings fund.  And as you gain more confidence you can increase your saving amount.

So remember,

  • Use Split to Save to make a saving plan.
  • Execute your split deposit through payroll/human resources or your financial institution.

It’s that easy.
